I loved the appearances of characters from the other books. The gargoyle Levet is charming and amusing and does his rescue the damsel, annoy the big bad vampire act. Reading this novel is like having a good friend over for coffee. You enjoy yourself, gossip, laugh and are a better person for indulging in the time to goof off luxuriating in this adventure/romance novel. Favorite lines: "It's so rare that I have visitors who aren't here to kiss Victor's ass or to try and assassinate him." Levet: "There are some who lack the taste to appreciate my exquisite charm." Tane: "I also lack the taste to appreciate chewing on glass, being skinned alive, and reruns of the Rosanne Bar show. Call me crazy."
